Bill Nye helps dedicate Bob's Big Boy Solar Power System!!

Bill Nye was an enthusiastic and amazing MC today as he led the solar power dedication ceremony at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, CA. Here he is pictured with Bob's owner, Philip MacDonald who is receiving a plaque of dedication from Senator Carol Lui's representative. The event was sponsored by Canadian Solar USA and HelioPower.

'48 Plymouth and Bob Beck's Bob's Memories at Sock Hop!!

Since Bob's opened 60 years ago, cars have been part of the magic at the restaurant! Bob Beck has part of the car culture at Bob's and a lifelong auto enthusiast and race announcer (more about Bob at http://bob-beck-motorsportsannouncing.com).

At our Sock Hop celebration on Thursday, Bob Beck will be showcasing an amazing car, his '48 Plymouth Coupe!

He said, "I hot-rodded this car in 1984. It has a V8, Auto trans. Two owner car. It was my everyday car for many years."

KFWB's Chef Jamie to Cover Bob's Story !!

Up until a few years ago, Jamie Gwen of KFWB's "Food and Wine with Chef Jamie Gwen" Show, lived in the San Fernando Valley. Her family went to Bob's and her Mother says "I love Bobs!"

Since they have other business obligations next Thursday when we celebrate Bob's Sixty and Solar party, Chef Jamie decided to cover the Bob's story this Sunday in her radio program. "Food and Wine with Chef Jamie Gwen" is broadcast to 1.3 million people from the border at San Diego to the Santa Barbara mountains.

Her show airs Sundays from 8am to 10am on KFWB News Talk Radio 980.

Bill Nye, known to millions as "The Science Guy," joins the "Sixty and Solar" celebration at Bob's Big Boy as the Master of Ceremonies, Thursday, September 24 at 11am. Mr. Nye currently hosts, "Stuff Happens" on Planet Green.

Ed Begley Jr. "Thanks for going solar at Bob's!"!!

The folks at our official charity, Habitat for Humanity in San Fernando, were wonderful to contact Ed Begley Jr. on behalf of the upcoming September 24 Sixty and Solar celebration at Bob's. Mr. Begley is unable to attend as he will be out of town on a film shoot, however he sent along this message, "Thanks for going solar at Bob's!" CA burger chain adds solar to menu!!

Bob's Big Boy will celebrate its 60th birthday by throwing a special "Sixty and Solar" ceremony and sock hop celebration Thusday, Sept. 24 to dedicate the restaurant's new solar power system at the oldest remaining Bob's Big Boy in the United States, 4211 Riverside Drive, Burbank.

The solar dedication of the new 26 kW Canadian Solar photovoltaic panel will start at 11 a.m. and will include a dedication of the solar power system by business, community, entertainment and government leaders followed by lunch.

American Icon Goes Solar at 60!!

August 24, The Auto Channel: So many of us grew up with Bob's Big Boy, the iconic L.A. burger drive thru and car hop service so closely associated with Southern California in the 1950s. Today, Big Boy is celebrating his 60th birthday by going green.

The restaurant will be hosting a special ceremony and sock hop celebration Thursday, Sept. 24 to dedicate its solar power system. In the mean time, fans are invited to share their stories at www.sixtyandsolar.com.
